Shareholders have technical representatives who form the Technical Committee.
The Technical Committee reports to the Board via the chairperson (Denis Albert). The functions of the Technical Committee are:
- To develop and present to the Board any proposed research programmes.
- To provide the Board with full details of the funding required for each Research Project contained within the proposed research programmes.
- To establish and maintain a register of research projects.
- To establish any sub-committees or appoint such persons as it considers necessary or desirable to fulfil its functions under the Shareholder Agreement.
- To oversee each research project according to the research programme.
- To recommend to the Board strategies, objectives and targets in respect of the research to be carried out.
- To maintain a register of background intellectual property, and establish and maintain a register of new intellectual property.
There are four standing sub-committees, covering the major sections of the research programme and the GF Plus scheme. They are:

Breeding and evaluation of New Genetic Combinations. This sub-committee covers the New Genetic Combinations and Superior Genotypes sub-sections of the research programme.

Integration and Optimisation. This sub-committee covers the modelling of the tree improvement process.

Breakthrough Technologies. This sub-committee covers the development of new breeding techniques.

GF Plus. This sub-committee covers the development and operation of the GF Plus scheme.
